i was watching the Plant Earth Series by BBC - Seasonal Forests - and was struck by the elapsed time video of a seedling growing from a several hundred year old tree that had just fallen. The narrator described it as a "Smash & Grab" attempt at life... 20 minutes later most of this song was written!
lyrics
I want you so bad I'll risk life
crawling my way to the top
killing my kin for daylight
it's a constant it will never stop
smash & grab, please let me in
I'll be damned, if I don't win
screaming loudly the elders will fall
what a party we'll feast on them all
they facilitate all that I'm worth
as I feed off & give to the earth
smash & grab, please let me in
I'll be damned, if I don't win
I want to grow up to the tree tops
to see what the sky drops
on the workers who make it alive
working my 9 to my 5 & my 5 to my 9
I believe all the strongest survive
oh... oh... no....
smash & grab, please let me in
I'll be damned, if I don't win
smash & grab, please let me in
I'll be damned, if I don't win
